How to Remove a Photo Background with Removebg

Removebg is an online AI background remover for product photos, portraits, pets and graphics. You can create a transparent PNG, refine the cutout and choose a solid background color in the same workspace.

1. Choose cloud or on-device processing

Choose cloud AI to remove the background online. Your photo is uploaded for processing.

If you prefer to keep your photo on your device, choose on-device processing. Select the Universal, Portrait or Fast model. The first use requires a model download, which your browser can cache for later. Processing speed depends on your device.

2. Select a photo

Drag in a PNG, JPG, JPEG or WebP file, or choose one from your device. Process one image at a time. See the FAQs on the home page for free allowances and file-size limits.

3. Check and refine the cutout

Slide between the original photo and the result to inspect the edges. Open Edit cutout to paint away unwanted areas or use the eraser to restore details. Undo and redo help you adjust the result without starting over.

4. Choose a background and download

Keep the background transparent or choose a solid color, such as white for a product photo. Download the finished image as a PNG. Editing, changing the color and downloading an existing result do not use extra cloud cutouts.

5. Return to your recent results

Recent results are saved in this browser when storage is available. Reopen an image to continue editing or download it. This history does not sync across devices and is not permanent. Download images you want to keep, or delete individual items and clear the history in the tool.
