How to Remove an Image Background Locally with Removebg

Cover

Removebg removes image backgrounds locally in a compatible browser. The browser downloads a fixed AI model, then processes the image on your device. The selected image and result are not sent elsewhere for processing.

1. Open the tool and choose a model

Open Removebg in a modern browser. Choose the Universal, Portrait, or Fast local model according to your image and device.

2. Download the model

The first time you choose a model, confirm its download. Your browser may cache the model so it can reuse it later. Model availability and processing performance depend on your browser and device.

3. Choose an image from your device

Select a PNG, JPG, JPEG, or WEBP image. Images can be up to 6400 pixels wide or high and up to 10 MB. The browser opens the file locally and uses the selected model to create a cutout.

4. Review and edit the cutout

Compare the result with the original image. If needed, open the mask editor to remove or restore parts of the image.

5. Save the result

Download the finished image to your device. Removebg processes one image at a time and does not require an account for the local tool.
